Aloha Bob's PC Relocator

We've all been through it, no matter how careful you resolve to be, when the time comes to move  on to another PC (By choice or by Circumstance!) there's always some files,  install discs, or passwords that you just can't find. Even if you could find them all, no one I know looks forward to reinstalling all their favorite applications, setting up email again etc.

Well, now you don't have to!! By using PC Relocator the "migration" from one Pc to another is made point & click easy. This program comes in 3 different variations, the standard package moves everything from one PC to another with no choices  left to the user, the middle version "UIltra" adds the ability for the user to  select which files, settings, apps., etc. will be moved (See Screenshot 1). This version also includes a "Migration Rating" feature that assigns each app a green yellow or red bar displayed on a chart. Green bar items are 99% sure to migrate over, with yellow and red being less and less likely to successfully move. The "Enterprise" version adds simultaneous, and remote control components to the migration process.

PC relocator supports migration by means of an included USB bridge cable, over a  TCP/IP network (Ultra & Enterprise Versions Only) and by a parallel cable connection. The software ships on a CD with directions on making a floppy disc version (I suppose in case there's no CD on one PC or the other). After installing the software on both machines you are asked to specify which will be the "target" and "Source" machine. You are then prompted through the rest of the  process regarding selecting files, apps., and settings to migrate (See  screenshot 2 below).

With this done you select your connection method, I used TCP/IP, (Screenshot 3) and begin. It took  about 80 minutes for my apps., data, etc. to migrate. this was a total of about 7 GIgabytes of data. I must admit to having some trepidation about starting up my new machine to check how the migration went, I needn't have worried!! All my  apps, emails, web bookmarks, even my desktop wallpaper moved over to the new PC.  BTW I went from a P3 600 running Win 98 SE to a P4 3Ghz. running XP home.

As with any software package your mileage may vary, but based on my experience this package goes into my "must have" toolkit.
